Logo

This our logo we have created for our film, we found an image on google for our POison Apple production company but for copy right reasons we weren't allowed to use it so megan recreated her own and using photoshop. We are very happy with the outcome.

We've Finished!!!!!!

Last friday we got feed back sheets from our class mates, they told us we should have longer title shots and a good use of music, titles. To improve our film we made some of the titles longer and added in a Paramount production company opening, this was to lengthen our film. We chose Paramount because they have produced other Horror films like ours such as Shrooms and What Lies Beneath. After finishing the final touches Megan and Tom began to record the voiceover.

Today Bradley and I finished recording our Evaluation voiceover for the film. This went very well and we have finally finished our film.

Evaluation and final touches

For the past week we have been writing our evaluation of our film that we will record as a voice over on our film, we have done a detailed textural analysis of the film and spoken about the conventions of a horror/ slasher film. We have also been refining our film and adding in transitions between the shots, this will make the film look more professional. We have chosen Paramount productions to be our distributer because they have also produced some very successful horror/slasher films such as Shrooms and What Lies Beneath. We are going to continue to write the evaluation and will soon be ready to record.

Past few weeks - editing and re-filming

For the past few weeks we have been editing our film in Final Cut, (after importing it onto a mac) we found that we needed more variety of camera shots and angles to convey the mood of the film, such as low angle shots, so after a basic edit to get the story and film going in the right direction, we decided on some more shots and set out to do some more filming. The new shots we had helped to create the mood and made the film much more interesting to watch.
After some more editing, we decided that showing the killer wasn't a very good idea as it destroys the mood and cancels out the suspense we want, it also didn't make the killer seem threatening due to the shots that were done. So, we went out to take some point of view shots from the killer, of him gradually getting closer to his victim, this, rather than seeing the killer watching from behind a tree, was a lot better at showing the mood and also builds suspense.
Whilst detailed editing was taking place by me (tom) and Bradley, Grace and Megan were working on the opening credits, choosing a font and animation that suited our film and helping set the mood.
After and almost final edit we found that the ending just instantly killed the mood, because of what happened, it just didn't work, whatever we did, so we set out to do more filming concentrating on the ending to make the killers appearance sudden and scary and also give the audience an idea of what has happened without actually showing it. This was a good ending to our film, showing two murderers, rather than one, to surprise the audience, however it didn't work with the rest of our filming as the colors of the environment were different, the shot was also at an angle so it looked like our two victims were jumping. This made us choose an ending we had already filmed, although they didn't show two murderers like we recently tried, it still had the murderer suddenly appear to frighten the audience.
After we had finished putting the shots together we imported our finished opening credits into our film, and put them into the film, this was the end of our visual editing. We moved onto the soundtrack, we are using diegetic sounds such as heavy breathing, along with non-diegetic sounds to build suspense.
During all this Megan was creating a picture for our production company "poison apple", to act as the logo for it, it consists of some hands holding an apple with some screws in it, it also shows a mouth as if about to bit into it, and given the name, poison apple, shows death, the screws also help this idea, so this logo fits in with the mood of the film.
