The Ring Analysis

The camera angles of the girl coming up the stairs are low angle shot of her feet as they walk towards us. Also close ups of her face and hand at the door these are all used to create tension. Once she's opened the door the camera cuts to the t.v and then we zoom into her face and special effects are used to manipulate her face and then it cuts to white noise and the titles start. the editing pace increases as tension is built up, and it goes in time with the music. Silence is used to create suspense.

The titles: in this sequence the font used was handwritten/childlike which reflects the mood of the film. the screen is black and the writing is in white and fades out leaving a ring behind which represents the ring in the film. The titles cut between images of chairs, trees, water, blood and the well which are all images from the tape in the film. at the end of the title sequence it cuts to white noise. The titles that came up were the production company name Dreamworks, the directors name Gore Verbinski, the title of the film, editors, producers, casting directors, composer, production design, director of photography and the actors. The music starts off with a high pitch screaming and then goes into a heavy base music, it speeds up with the pace of the film, also children's laughter can be heard by the end of the sequence this links the the film plot . The editing also gets faster as the titles come to an end.
